Replanting Coffee Estate with Students
MTs and Mln Students Join the Replanting of 5,000 Coffee Trees in Gunung Linggaratu
In November 2023, Kopi Tujuhenam involved MTs and Mln students (equivalent to junior and senior high school) from Pesantren Persis Tarogong in a replanting program of 5,000 coffee trees at the coffee plantation located in Gunung Linggaratu, Sindangpalay Village, Karangpawitan, Garut, West Java.
This replanting initiative replaced old, less productive coffee trees with new seedlings of uniform varieties. The program aims to improve plantation productivity while promoting environmental sustainability.
In addition to contributing to environmental preservation, the students gained valuable hands-on experience. They were introduced to the coffee production chain, from seedling and plantation care to post-harvest processing, roasting, and the journey of coffee beans to becoming a cup of brewed coffee.
This program not only aims to raise environmental awareness among the students but also equips them with practical knowledge of the coffee industry, which could serve as a foundation for their future endeavors. Insya Allah, this activity marks a meaningful step in fostering a generation that cares for the environment and understands the local coffee industry.
